More Short walks for the Swansea Ramblers Programme
Listed above are some of the walks that are shorter in length and more suitable to those wishing to begin walking.
We would like to offer more and varied walks for you to join and to do so we need more walk leaders to come forward and lead for us.
If you are a Ramblers member or are thinking of joining us, why not offer to lead a short walk on the next programme?
If you are not sure how to lead then an experienced walk leader will be happy to help.
Not everyone can walk on a weekend so if you could lead a weekday walk or evening walk in the summer, we can increase the range of walks we offer.
NOTES
Joining a walk
Walks are open to anyone, including visitors on holiday. Newcomers are especially welcome.

Safety on Walks
It is at the discretion of the Leader to refuse to take anyone
considered to be unsuitably equipped or likely to cause a problem during the walk.
Walkers must wear suitable footwear and clothing, carry enough food and drink and
a small First Aid pack. In case of accident, ID and contact numbers should be carried.
While the safety of members is always of paramount concern, accidents may occasionally occur.
It is important to appreciate that you have a responsibility for the safety of
yourself and fellow walkers.
Dogs on Walks
Dogs may be unable to join one of our walks in the lambing season (1st Dec. - 30th April) or at other times where the route crosses land where there may be livestock. If the walk description welcomes dogs then they may be taken but should remain for the duration of the walk on short, non-extendable leads. We appreciate that you may wish to walk with your dog but unfortunately many walks go cross farmland where livestock can be disturbed even by the presence of a dog on a lead.
Meeting for the walk
The start point of a walk is sometimes given in the programme in addition to the meeting point.
In exceptional circumstances, such as adverse weather conditions, the leader might need to cancel the walk.
The leader will only inform those present at the meeting point.
Anyone wishing to travel directly to the start point is advised to contact the leader to confirm if the walk will go ahead.
Walks are graded as follows:-
Easy Access:
walks for everyone, including people with conventional wheelchairs and pushchairs, using easy access paths. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn. Assistance may be needed to push wheelchairs on some sections, please contact the leader running the walk for details.
Easy:
walks for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty, a specific health problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.
Easy/Moderate (Ramblers GB category=Leisurely):
walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.
Moderate:
walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness. May include some steep paths and open country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.
Strenuous:
walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. May include hills and rough country, and may be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness should contact the organiser or leader in advance.
Technical:
walks for experienced and very fit walkers with additional technical skills. May require scrambling and use of ropes, ice axes and crampons. You must contact the organiser or leader in advance for further details.
