Swansea Ramblers

Clyne Country Park

A 6-mile Thursday Walk

2nd January 2025

Leader: Peter Jones

Peter led us on a walk which should have taken place the day before on his birthday but strong winds and rain delayed it until the next day when we were greeted by sunshine and a frost.

28 of us met up at the Dogs' Graves in Clyne Gardens and walked down through the park towards the coast.

Before the coast, we turned to cross Blackpill and enter Clyne Country Park via the old tramway that runs parallel with the main Active Travel Path.

We followed the newer Active Travel Path to the recently consolidated remains of the New Mill where we stopped for a Tea Break.

Continuing past the Olchfa Stream, we followed the old main road lined with Beech Trees then in Killay, stopped for lunch at The Railway Inn.

After lunch, we ascended to Keepers Cottage and followed the high-level path to the viewpoint over Swansea Bay.

The woodland track led us to the top of Mill Lane from where we returned to the start through St. Catwg Walk.

We then went to The Woodman Pub in Blackpill for our post-walk social.

Another lovely day out with Swansea Ramblers.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
