Swansea Ramblers

Neath Canal, Briton Ferry and Eaglesbush

14th December 2024

Leader: Clive Rees

Swansea Ramblers had a lovely walk along the Neath Canal.

We started by the train station and headed south along the canal to Briton Ferry.

We then visited Jersey Park and ascended part-way along the incline before turning north to Pencaerau.

Descending Eaglesbush Valley, we reached Melincryddan where we rejoined the canal for the walk back into Neath.

Another great walk with Swansea Ramblers.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!

If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.

It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.

If you enjoy walking with us and want to come on even more of our walks, just become a member.

When you join us for a Swansea Walk, ask us about the other walks and social events we do.

We were greeted by a rainbow over Neath

Which promised no more rain

But we didn't believe it

And we had a couple of rain showers to prove us right!

We walked south along the Neath Canal, dodging the cyclists

And sunshine replaced the rain

You wouldn't think there was a canal here!

But this bit has more clear water

We are nearly at Briton Ferry
Now is that half a mile or half a kilometre?
Is it 3 minutes cycling or 3 minutes walking>
A very (un)useful sign

But we knew our way to Briton Ferry
