Swansea Ramblers

Resolven and Neath Canal

A Saturday walk along the canal and through Rheola Forest

28th September 2024

Leader: Clive Rees

Swansea Ramblers met at Resolven to walk the canal from the basin north to Cwmgwrach.

It was cold first thing in the morning but the sun soon warmed the air and we set off for the canal.

we followed this section of canal where in 1990 they restored the locks but now it is looking delapidated and reeds fill the canal.

We crossed under the A465 bypass to reach Blaengwrach and headed south on the edge of Rheola Forest.

We stopped for lunch in the forest before continuing south into the village of Resolven.

After the walk, we stopped at the Crown and Sceptre in Cadoxton for our post-walk social.

Another great walk with Swansea Ramblers.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.
