Swansea Ramblers

Kilvey Hill

A 6-mile Saturday walk on a lovely sunny day

14th September 2024

Leader: Dave Stephens

Swansea Ramblers met at Sainsbury's by the Tawe Riverside to walk onto Kilvey Hill via SA1 and Port Tennant.

It was a lovely, sunny day although an autumn coldness reminded us that summer had passed.

Twenty-four of us made our way to the top and had our packed lunch overlooking the city.

Here, in the quiet countryside, we reflected that one day the ground where we sat may be buried under concrete to make the Gondola Station and cafe.

Our descent took us through woodland that may be felled for the proposed Luge.

We passed the recently restored Green Man and continued the descent to the roundhouse and eventually the road.

Heading south via the shared-user path, we followed the east bank of the Tawe to return to Sainsburys.

Dropping off our Rucksacks at the car park, we walked over to The Queens Hotel where outside we sat and enjoyed a social and refreshments in the sunshine.

Another great day out with Swansea Ramblers!    Why not come along with a friendly group and enjoy the countryside?

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
