Swansea Ramblers

History of Swansea Docks

A walk and talk with Professor John France

27th May 2024

Leader: John France

The Chair of Swansea Ramblers is a Professor of Medieval History and has a lot of knowledge about the more recent history of Swansea Docks.

We had a lot of people turn up at Sainsbury's for the walk and talk.    The weather was overcast but cleared up a bit during the walk.    John told us how the area had evolved and of its decline in the 20th. Century.

After the walk some of us went to the Queens Hotel for refreshments.

See also photos and videos of John's previous talk

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!

If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.
