Swansea Ramblers travelled to the Llŷn Peninsula for a weekend of walking.
There were two walks each day, a long walk and a short one.
For this walk, we drove 20 minutes eastward to the Ffestiniog Railway Station of Tan-y-Bwlch.
We walked down to Llyn Mair and through woodland to Plas Tan-y-Bwlch.
After a short stop, we continued through woodland, hearing every now and then the shrill whistle of the steam train.
A couple of times we even saw the train as it passed close to the footpath.
We ascended through woodland to have high level views over the estuary to Portmeirion then of the mountains further north and east.
We had coffee in the Railway Cafe then some of us started our way home while the others returned to the hotel for an extra night's stay.
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.
Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.
Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
