Swansea Ramblers Walk

Swansea Ramblers' Weekend Away

Criccieth to Llanystumdwy

A 5-mile Saturday walk on the Llŷn Peninsula

20th April 2024

Leader: Clive Scott

Swansea Ramblers travelled to the Llŷn Peninsula for a weekend of walking.   There were two walks each day, a long walk and a short one.

The weather was very kind to us.   The sun shone all day and into the evening.   It was still cold in the shade but could be very warm in the sunshine.

We first paddled through a waterlogged path, a reminder of all the rain we've had for months!   We then continued along quiet back lanes to the village of Llanysumdwy.   Here Lloyd George lived and we stopped for lunch by his grave.

We then continued south, crossing the A497 to join the Wales Coast Path.   Part of the path is so low that the high tides cover it.   Thankfully, the tide was out when we walked west along this pleasant section of coast.

We ended the walk beneath Criccieth Castle which some of us then visited after coffee, cake and an Ice-cream!   Hard walking with the Ramblers?   Don't think so!

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!

If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.

It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.
