Swansea Ramblers Walk

Whiteford Lighthouse
A Saturday walk at Llanmadoc

23rd March 2024

Leader: Lucy Davies

Swansea Ramblers visited Llanmadoc to walk out onto the beach then to Whiteford Lighthouse.   There were 40 of us today and we ignored the forecast for showers to enjoy a (mostly) dry, sunny day in Gower.

We carefully walked along the beach, watching out for any stray WII live ammunition that may have washed up!   The walk out to the lighthouse took about 20 minutes one-way.   We had checked the tide times to ensure we had the time to safely visit the sea-washed cast-iron lighthouse.

We stopped for lunch by the Bird Hide with the views across North Gower.   Following lunch, we made out way back along the edge of the forest.   The path was very wet but our boots kept us dry.

After the walk, we went to the Britannia for refreshments.

Another memorable walk with Swansea Ramblers.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
