Swansea Ramblers Walk

Cwm Dulais Lily Ponds

An 8-mile walk above Pontarddulais

8th November 2023

Leader: Alan and Eleanor Strawbridge

Swansea Ramblers had a midweek walk at Pontarddulais.   The weather was dry throughout the walk although previously there had been a large amount of rain which made some of the paths waterlogged.

We ascended on one side of the Fountain Inn and returned the other side.   Unfortunately we couldn't go in the Fountain as it is now a restaurant only!

Our walk took us past the site of the Graig Fawr Colliery then we ascended the side of the valley to cross moorland.   We visited the Cwm Dulais Lily Ponds where our Path Maintenance Team had constructed a new footbridge.

Lunch was on the side of Twyn Tyle with great views of the valley and moorland.   We continued south on the ridge path over Cefn Drum to stop and admire the view from Maggie's Twr.

We descended back into Pontarddulais and went across to The Black Horse for refreshments.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.
