Swansea Ramblers Walk

Part of The Mumbles Way

A 6-mile Saturday walk

28th October 2023

Leader: Chris Rees

Swansea Ramblers met at Clyne Gardens car park to walk the middle section of The Mumbles Way.   We walked through Clyne Gardens then crossed Mayals Road to make our way to West Cross and Washinghouse Brook.   Joining the promenade to Norton, we walked up to Oystermouth Castle.

We dodged a runaway car in Norton then had lunch in Oystermouth Cemetery.   Our route took us through the back streets of Oystermouth to the promenade which we followed back to the start at Blackpill.    Some of us then went into the Woodman to enjoy refreshments.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!

If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.

It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.

If you enjoy walking with us and want to come on even more of our walks, just become a member.

When you join us for a Swansea Walk, ask us about the other walks and social events we do.

Then off we walked through Norton, dodging a runaway car on the hill!

All safe and sound, we stopped where there was once a row of old houses

Then in the grounds of Oystermouth Church we visited the grave of Mr. Bowdler

Mr. Bowdler took all the 'naughty bits' out of Shakespeare not to offend people's sensibilities
(Probably be back in print the way political correctness is going!)

It started to rain but undaunted, we walked the seafront back to Blackpill
