Swansea Ramblers Walk

Malvern Weekend Away

Great Malvern to the Wyche Cutting

A 5-mile Saturday walk

21st October 2023

Leader: Richard Beale

Swansea Ramblers travelled to Worcestershire to stay at The Abbey Hotel in Malvern.   Most of us stayed Friday and Saturday night while some of us stayed a third night to return home on Monday.

We had two walks on Saturday and Sunday, one short and the other long.   These photographs are of the Saturday short walk led by Richard Beale.

We had a steep ascent on the '99' steps and up the track to St Ann's well.   We continued the climb to The Wyche Cutting where we left the county of Worcester, crossing the border into Herefordshire.

We followed the ridge northward and back into Worcestershire.   We then stopped for lunch below the Worcestershire Beacon.   Here the weather was very cold and windy.   We almost had a 360 degree envelopment in mist but it blew away as quickly as it came.

Our descent led us back into Malvern near The Red Lion and the main road.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
