Swansea Ramblers Walk

Llandybie

A 5-mile Saturday walk

20th May 2023

Leaders: Mike and Joanna Craddock

Swansea Ramblers travelled to Llandybie near Ammanford for a walk into the Carmel National Nature Reserve.   We walked through the village in sunshine then ascended through fields and along quiet roads to reach the reserve.   We had lunch above the old quarry from where we had a lovely panorama of the surrounding countryside.

We descended through Bluebell-lined paths to the only Turlough on mainland Britain.   (A Turlough is a body of water that appears only when the water table is above the bottom of the Turlough).

We had views of Carreg Cennen Castle and passed through more woodland with lots of Bluebells as we made our way back to Llandybie.   Afterwards, ome of us enjoyed a cool, refreshing drink in the beer garden of the local pub.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
