Swansea Ramblers Walk

Llandrindod

A 9-mile walk

To Gilwern Hill and Shaky Bridge

22nd April 2023

Leader: Tim Gronow

Swansea Ramblers have weekends away to walk in areas we normally cannot reach in a day.   This Spring we stayed at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod.

We had two walks each day, one long and one short to cater for different walking abilities.   The weekend also gave us the chance to socialise and enjoy events such as a quiz and the live music played by a band in a local pub.   We also had use of the spa facilities so the Jacuzzi was a very welcome amenity after a walk in the countryside!

Tim led the long walk which started in the mist but that soon burned off so we had some sunshine as well.   We ascended to the trig Point then continued a gradual ascent to Gilwern Hill.   When we arrived at Shaky Bridge, we found that it had been replaced with a much sturdier bridge!   Another steep ascent took us over the ridge to begin a long descent into Llandrindod.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!

If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.

It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.

If you enjoy walking with us and want to come on even more of our walks, just become a member.

When you join us for a Swansea Walk, ask us about the other walks and social events we do.
