Swansea Ramblers Walk

Llansamlet

Rivers and Lakes

A 6-mile Saturday Walk

18th March 2023

Leader: Lynne Esson

Swansea Ramblers explored the hidden countryside of the Enterprise Zone.   Many people brave the bumper-to-bumper traffic to go shopping but never realise how much green areas lie between the retail units.

We set off from the Resource Centre in Llansamlet and first visited the nature reserve opposite the school.   Following paths around the area, we emerged into the melee of traffic near ASDA.   We crossed with care and headed for the Fendrod Lake, glad to get away from the cars heading for the shops.

We had lunch by the lake then made our way to the riverside path beside the Tawe.    Both the sun and the views opened up when we reached the Tawe Flood Prevention Zone.

Passing by the small lake and the Fendrod River where sometimes Kingfishers dart, we followed more hidden woodland paths to return to the start of our walk.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
