Swansea Ramblers Walk

Tennant Canal and Crymlyn Burrows
A 6.5 mile Saturday walk

11th March 2023

Leader: Clive Rees

Swansea Ramblers walked along the towpath of the Tennant Canal from Port Tennant to Jersey Marine.   The weather forecast was for rain but it stayed dry for the first half of the walk.   We had a tea stop at Jersey Marine then walked to the main road to cross over to Crymlyn Burrows.   The pill looked too wet and slippery to risk crossing, so we walked the edge of the marsh to make our way westward towards the university campus.

The rain came down as we approached the campus so having reached the wet and windy beach, we changed our plans and had lunch sheltering outside the university library.   The rain continued all the way to the end of the walk but we still had an enjoyable day out.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?

But it was too wet and muddy so we decided to walk westward along the edge of the marsh

So we went in search of shelter in the university

Then went under the Fabian Way Flyover
If you could see the rusty, reinforced concrete,
you wouldn't want to drive over it!
