Swansea Ramblers Walk

Cwm Clydach

Coal and a Chapel

A 6-mile Sunday walk

26th February 2023

Leader: John France

Swansea Ramblers took a walk along the Cwm Clydach Trail, starting near the New Inn, Craig Cefn Parc.   We were accompanied for the first mile by Ioan Richard who told us some of the history of the mining here.   It was a lovely, sunny, winter's day with clear visibility.

We walked north to Pont Llechart then passed by Gellionnen Chapel on our southward return to Craig Cefn Parc.   On the way we passed Alpacas, Donkeys and farmyard animals.   Our leader John told us more about the history of the area and about Death-ray Matthews who lived above Craig Cefn Parc.   Another lovely day out walking and we were joined by four new walkers who came along to enjoy a walk in the lovely weather.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
