Swansea Ramblers Walk

Crynant Forest

A 6-mile Saturday Walk

With panoramic views

28th January 2023

Leader: Clive Rees

Swansea Ramblers walked above the village of Creunant (Crynant) along forestry tracks that led us to the top of the Farteg Mountain.   Here we had lunch and admired the panoramic views.   We could look down into two valleys with Ystradgynlais to the west and Seven Sisters in the east.   To the north lay Fan Girhirych and the Brecon Beacons.

Following our visit to the Farteg, we descended out of the forest and made our way for refreshments to The Gradon Pub in Creunant.   We usually finish a walk with a bit of a social in a local hostelry and the pub made us welcome by opening up the 'Cwtsh' by the wood burning stove.

Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.

Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.

Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!

If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.

It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.

If you enjoy walking with us and want to come on even more of our walks, just become a member.

When you join us for a Swansea Walk, ask us about the other walks and social events we do.

It was a steady climb to the forestry track but on a cold day it helped to generate some internal heat!

Every now and then there was an opening from where we could see for miles
Clive has already checked out another walk along the two hillsides of that valley
