Swansea Ramblers Walk
The Enterprise Zone:
A walk taking place on Saturday 15th January 2022
More countryside than you'd imagine!
Walk route was checked on
18th November 2021
Leader: Andrew Morgan
Join Andrew on 15th January 2022 for a short walk or two in the Enterprise Zone.
We'll be splitting the walk into two, so you will have the choice to:
- Walk just the morning section or
- Walk the afternoon section or
- Come along and do both the walks for a longer exploration of the area.
Each walk will be about 3.5 miles (about 2 hours) so you have the opportunity to do both walks for a combined walk of about 7 miles.
We will explore the cycle paths, woodland, lakes and ponds in the area. If you haven't thought about walking around the Enterprise Zone because it looks industrial or full of shops, you may be in for a surprise when you discover the countryside inbetween!
See the photos for a taste of the walk then join Andrew for a lovely walk. See the Walks Programme page for the details of where to meet.
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.
Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.
Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!
If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.
It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.
If you enjoy walking with us and want to come on even more of our walks, just become a member.
When you join us for a Swansea Walk, ask us about the other walks and social events we do.

We will start at the south end of Beaufort Road
We'll cross the bridge across the Tawe
Nice views of the river from the bridge
Heading south alongside the river
A woodland walk brings us to a hidden boundary stone
Then to the secret tunnel beneath the busy road near Morrisons.
We'll see Pluck lake on the way.
Then some more little known forestry tracks
Where Andrew found some Fungi
Then we'll circle back towards the Tawe
And pick up the cycle path on the other side of the river
We can have our lunch by the river
Then make our way back to Beaufort Road...
...By passing under the railway viaduct
Back to the start to meet the afternoon walkers
Then a short walk brings us to more hidden scenery
Ponds for fishing with the rushing traffic unaware this haven is here
Then on to Fendrod Lake
Which is a lovely walk in itself
Onto the bridge across the River Fendrod
Where scores of loving couples have added their locks!!
We may see some geese before exploring even more hidden countryside
