Swansea Ramblers Walk
A Swansea Ramblers social on the Tawe
6th June 2013
Leader: Peter Jones
Swansea Ramblers do more than just Gower Walks and Swansea Walks. We also enjoy social events and our social secretary, Peter Jones, arranged a cruise up the Tawe one sunny summer's evening. We had a lovely time sailing up the river almost to the Liberty Stadium. After the walk we went for a drink then a Chinese buffet.
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.
Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.
Maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people?
- Come with Swansea Ramblers!
If you'd like to try a Swansea walk then do come along and find out what the great outdoors is all about.
It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you.
You'll be very welcome to join us for three free walks.
If you enjoy walking with us and want to come on even more of our walks, just become a member.
When you join us for a Swansea Walk, ask us about the other walks and social events we do.

Helwick Lighship alongside our cruise boat
Keeping a beady eye on us
The boat has arrived
Mooring the Black Prince
Making our way on board
Boarding one at a time
Ships forming part of the National Maritime Museum collection
Approaching the Pump House
Modern lock gates
On-board, the guide tells us about the journey
The old Ice house
The new Sail bridge
The old railway bridge
The new rowers!
Lots of very important history occurred along the Tawe
And our guide tells us about Copperopolis
New history of the Premier League Stadium
Peaceful to row along the river but I bet they are working hard!
The historic dock at White Rock
The 'SAD HOUSES' at Morfa
Well they always have a sad expression
See what I mean?
More copper history
If you get the chance, join our Professor of history,
John France on one of his fascinating history walks.
The old and historic Bascule bridge blocks our way upstream
Boys will be boys!
Bet that's cold!
Hope he comes up for air!
Heading back down the Tawe
He's behind you!
Part of the extended roundabout system we all get stuck in!
Now there's someone unconcerned about traffic
Well maybe water traffic!
The barrage in the distance
Coming back into harbour
Nearly docked and there's the Tower
Off we go in search of our Chinese meal
