Cynon Valley Ramblers invited us once more to join one of their walks
The joint walk started from the Dare Valley Country Park
There are a number of way marked trails in the park
There was a lot of uphill walking to do. Aberdare is in the valley below
Through some old woodland
Nearly reached the ridge but lots more climbing to do!
Rainbow in the mist
Taking a break at the ridge while the back of the group walk up to join us
Walking up to the reservoir
Stone posts mark the route we need to walk
Walk was dog friendly
Stopped for tea
Old bridge at the tea stop
Walking up into the hill fog. Is it going to rain?
Lunch stop on the tree stumps of the forest
One of many mountain streams we walked past
This uphill walking seems never ending today!
More hill fog but the sun is coming out
Walking into blue skies (and views!)
Old Smokey in the distance is a coal tip but looks like another mountain
Looking (at last!) at the extensive views without the cloud
Shame we weren't able to see these views on the walk up
Downhill from now on
A moth caterpillar doesn't seem to mind the cold
Aberdare in the distance
Down a slippery hillside
Site of an old mine
An old winding wheel
Pleasant riverside walk back
Ducks on the reservoir
Back to the visitor centre
