Walk Description

Access to the car park is from the minor road on the bend of the B4287 by the viaduct.
A number of longer walks can start here but today's walk is another short family stroll to a wood containing Japanese artefacts.
A number of trees have been cut down in the garden and considering the increasing problem with the fungus that is destroying much forestry it could be a case of see it while you can.
From the car park take the path to the right of the notice boards and cross the viaduct bridge high above the river.
(The notices refer to the closed cycle path, not our route).
Continue to a junction and turn left to ascend to Kanji Wood.
A number of Japanese structures are located around this small wooded area.
From the fence you can glimpse the river below.
After seeing the wood, continue straight on to a gate then pass the last Japanese image before descending to the cycle path.
Turn right to begin the return journey. At the junction take the middle path back to the bridge and the cars.

You can extend the walk by taking the path at the car park to the left of the information boards (next to the cycle path) and immediately descend to the riverside path.
Follow this for about half a mile then climb to meet the broad cycle path again.
Turn left and follow this path back to the car park.
Other walks from the car park include the Richard Burton Trail (3 miles) and the Penrhys Trail (3.5 miles).

Ramblers Cymru and Swansea Ramblers provide these routes but accept no responsibility for those walking them.
