Day 3 and our second walk in Austria. We awoke to more rain but after a hearty breakfast, we discovered that the rain had stopped. We caught the local bus to Biberwier where we used not one but two chair lifts to ascend so far up the mountain. We then walked up to the top of Höllkopf with its wonderful views of Wankspitze (don't ask!). We were not so lucky with Handshuhspitze (Glove) Mountain which stubbonly remained shrouded in cloud.
The World Cup football was on TV tonight so a number of faster walkers disappeared down the mountain to get back in time for the match. The rest of us descended at a civilised pace then stopped just below the top of the chair lift at the Sunnalm mountain hut where we enjoyed bier and - Apfel-strudel! - Not forgetting the incredible mountain scenery all around us as we ate.
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities from the long strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker to the short, easy lowland walks where maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people. If you'd like to try a walk then do come along and find out what all this Swansea Walking in the great outdoors is all about. It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you. If you get the bug and want to walk or stroll regularly then you can also become a member. Just ask us about the walks and social events we do when you join us for a Swansea Walk.
