Swansea Ramblers Walk
Swansea Ramblers visit Austria
Day 1: Bristol to Ehrwald
5th July 2018
Leader: Guides arranged with holiday company
Some of our members went on a holiday to Austria. We flew from Bristol to Munich after a two hour delay caused partly by lightening over Munich. A coach transfer took us south into Austria and to Ehrwald, a small Tyrolean village in the Wetterstein mountain chain which forms part of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. We were warned that it had been raining that week and we could see how wet the roads appeared. Arriving later than programmed, we dumped our bags in the foyer and went straight into dinner. Listening to the rain, we hoped for drier weather tomorrow....
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities from the long strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker to the short, easy lowland walks where maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people. If you'd like to try a walk then do come along and find out what all this Swansea Walking in the great outdoors is all about. It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you. If you get the bug and want to walk or stroll regularly then you can also become a member. Just ask us about the walks and social events we do when you join us for a Swansea Walk.

Hot & Sunny in Britain
Wonder what our little plane
wants to be when it grows up!
Munich at last!
And it's dry here!

Onto the coach and having a race with the train.
Are some of our other walkers on board?
Sonnenspitze Mountain gives its name to our hotel
And we were lucky to see it in all this cloud
Still in a race with the train
Glorious sunlight streams through the clouds
At last! Reached the Sonnenspitze Hotel
and straight into a late dinner
