Swansea Ramblers Walk
Cornwall Weekend Away
20th May 2013
Leader: Mark Wolle
The weather changed for our last day in Cornwall but although it was grey and overcast, the rain held off long enough for us to enjoy a third day of walking. We drove north to Minions which is just south east of Bodmin Moor and explored the mining heritage and the natural rock formations as well as an ancient stone circle. If you'd like to try a walk then do come along and find out what all this Swansea Walking in the great outdoors is all about. It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you. If you get the bug and want to walk or stroll regularly then you can also become a member. Just ask us about the walks we do when you join us for a Swansea Walk.

Gathering in the village
Following an old tramway
A turkey stood guard
Tramway stones still in place
Monument to a large scale industry now vanished
Farm house has seen better days
Some of the many engine houses
Mark found us some mud
(at least we thought it was mud!)
Higher and drier ground
Lots of industrial ruins
Over a stone stile
Old Engine House
Spoil heaps left when industry closed
Not very old
Had to wrap up to keep warm
Nearly back for pub lunch
They beat us to it - Lamb dinner anyone?
Oh! - they heard us!
After lunch we went north of the village
Engine house converted into museum
Is it me or does he look shocked to see us!
Another well preserved tramway
Natural rock formations
What? We got to go up there?
All the way up there?
Ah! Now we know why!
Well worth coming up to see them
Well the roar of the jet didn't disturb the stones
These are The Hurlers, an ancient stone circle
Ancient stones near not so ancient mines
Last few yards to the finish of our Cornish holiday
