Description:

 

A beautifully varied walk with incredible views which will include ‘Giants Grave’, Cathole Cave, The Great Cairn and Penmaen Castle.

 

Come along and enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable walk that can be enjoyed as a ramble with great company, giving you an opportunity to spend time savouring nature, birds and wildflowers.

 

Enjoy the fascinating history of the area and have time to let our local area inspire your creativity. Remember to bring a drink and some lunch.

 

Towards the end of the walk, we can stop at the Parkmill Heritage Centre for coffee.

Terrain: One incline up to Great Cairn and a mixture of terrain.

·       Follow A4118 (South Gower Road) westward.

·       Descend into Parkmill Valley.

·       Pass Shepherds Stores on the right.

·       Turn right just beyond Gower Heritage Centre,
(signposted, Parc Le Breos).

·       Car park is a third of a mile uphill on single track road.

Parkmill, Penmaen and Three Cliffs

Description:

 

We’ll walk part of ‘The Gower Way’, through Park Woods to emerge onto lower Cefn Bryn. 

 

There we will have an iconic view of Three Cliffs Bay, considered one of the best beaches on the Wales Coast Path.

 

At Penmaen, we’ll stop at picnic benches for an early lunch.

 

We then join the Wales Coast Path with lovely views over Oxwich before heading towards Three Cliffs for a short coffee break.

 

We’ll follow Pennard Pill to Parkmill then ascend the lane back to the cars.

The walk is all on paths with one sandy downhill section.

 

Car-share is recommended since we cannot guarantee a space in a car park on the day.  Please arrange lifts beforehand where possible.

 

Stiles: There are no stiles.

Toilets: Heritage Centre Car Park just before the walk ends.

Terrain:

  • Gradual ascent to Penmaen on good paths. 
  • Descent to Three Cliffs Bay on rougher track.
  • Sandy path (Possibly some mud in places). 
  • Last section ascends back to the car park.

Afterwards, we will go for refreshments to The Gower Inn.

Three Cliffs from Penmaen Burrows

Description:

 

Weather permitting, we will have some great views of the Swansea Valley.

 

We start at Ynystawe Park and make our way to the top of Mynydd Gelliwastad.

 

We cross the mountain towards Graig Cefn Park then follow the Cwm Clydach walk to Clydach.

 

We can stop for our lunch beside the Swansea Canal then continue our walk using the cycle lane network to Glais before returning to our start at Ynystawe Park.

 

Stiles: To be advised.

Toilets: None.

Terrain:

·       One long climb at the start, approximately 1.2 miles.

·       Also expect lots of mud and water!

 

Social after walk:

Afterwards, we will go for refreshments to Ynystawe, The Millers Arms.

We start at Shaw’s Woodland, then up through another wet and muddy woodland, with some inclines and uneven surfaces.

 

We make our way back towards Gowerton, on some lesser-known paths with some lovely views.

Description:

An evening walk around Oystermouth, taking in the countryside of the cemetery, Castle Green, Oystermouth Castle and Underhill.

 

Hopefully, we will see Bluebells, lots of Garlic, tree blossom and views across the bay to the lighthouse and beyond.
