Day four in Austria. The weather stayed dry and perfect for walking. We caught the bus to Biberwier Village and walked forestry tracks to Mittersee. This lake had an idyllic setting plus a mountain reflection in the water. We continued throught the forest to the next lake, Blindsee. Here some stayed to swim and have lunch while others decided to get the 200m climb over with and have refreshments at the Zugspitzblick hut with wonderful views over the lake and mountains.
When the others ascended from their swim, we crossed the very busy main road that carries traffic between Italy and Austria. We ascended another 200m into the forest. Picking wild strawberries on the way, we paused for a rest at the top then began the descent that eventually brought us to our third lake, Weißensee. We continued the walk through pasture and forest to reach the bus stop for the Biberwier Marienberg chair lift (that we used yesterday). We then caught the bus back to Ehrwald.
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities from the long strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker to the short, easy lowland walks where maybe you'd like to explore walking for the first time with a friendly group of people. If you'd like to try a walk then do come along and find out what all this Swansea Walking in the great outdoors is all about. It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you. If you get the bug and want to walk or stroll regularly then you can also become a member. Just ask us about the walks and social events we do when you join us for a Swansea Walk.
