Swansea Ramblers travelled to Carmarthenshire to revisit the fantastic area above the Usk Reservoir. Here, hundreds of years ago, the Romans established an important camp to control the main highway over the mountain.
Little today remains to be seen but to the trained eye, the shape of the land still reveals the position of the fort that once was home to many soldiers in this remote area of Wales.
Today, the road is no longer used except by intrepid Ramblers who come to admire the incredible views of the Brecon Becons and beyond. A walk not to be missed when you next see it on the Swansea Ramblers programme.
Swansea Ramblers offer a range of walks for most abilities.
Try an easy walk of 2-3 hours or our longer strenuous mountain walks for the experienced walker.
