If you'd like to try a walk then do come along and find out what all this Swansea Walking in the great outdoors is all about. It won't cost you anything to come along and see if walking is for you. If you get the bug and want to walk or stroll regularly then you can also become a member. Just ask us about the walks we do when you join us for a Swansea Walk.
Leader Mark Wolle hosts a Gower Society walk
Heading for Maen Mawr stone circle with Fan Hir in distance
Mark tells us about Maen Mawr stone circle
Climbing alongside Nant y Llyn towards Fan Brycheiniog
Tea stop by one of the waterfalls
Fan Brycheiniog getting closer
Still some climbing to do
Long steady climb up
What will we see when we get over the ridge?
Llyn y Fan Fawr is what we can see!
Now we have to climb the Devil's Staircase to get to the top of Fan Brycheiniog
High above Llyn y Fan Fawr
At Top of staircase but still a steady ascent ahead!
At the stone shelter, now to the cairn in the distance
There are the Carmarthen Fans in the distance
Do we have to go up there!
Oh well here we go! - and there's Fan Brycheiniog behind us
Walter can't resist a spot of cairn building!
Llyn y Fan Fach now - plus Fan Hir and Fan Brycheiniog
Very good visibility today!
Beginning the descent into the valley
Less windy down here
Nearly down to the fish ponds
Fish are jumping out of the water
Reached the bottom of valley so it's back up again!!
Fan Brycheiniog and the road we walked down
Heading for Waun Llwyd
Looking back towards Pant Tyle Gwyn
Steep climb up before lunch
Stop to get our breath back!
Ground has levelled out
Waun Llwyd Stone Circle
Lunch !!! - with Fan Brycheiniog behind us
Climbing steadily towards Fan Brycheiniog
A few Red Kites flew around
Nearly at the base of the mountain - what will we see?
Ah! - Llyn y Fan Fawr again!
Stop to admire the view
Downhill at last!
Ah! A bit more up!
Is this the stream that is the source of the Tawe?
Back to the cars - Anyone for the pub?
